Roast Markets

This page explains everything you need to know about Roast Markets, Heat, scoring, rewards, and how your roasts turn into real value.
Let’s start here..

What Are Roast Markets?

As you can see above, those cards are Roast Markets. Roast Markets are the heart of Roaster, the spots where culture, memes, narratives, and rewards all collide in the best way possible.
Think of them as attention economies built around one idea, brand, moment, or trend. Each Roast Market is basically a live arena where people jump in to roast a topic, make memes, steer the narrative, and compete for rewards. Your roast adds flavor to the culture. The Heat shows how much the community cares.
Here’s what every market includes:
  • A topic: what you’re roasting
  • A brief: what the brand or community wants
  • A Heat Score: how hot the moment is
  • A leaderboard preview: who’s cooking the hardest
  • A reward pool or token outcome: depending on the market
  • A countdown timer: because culture doesn’t wait
When you post a roast on X, follow the brief and tag the market correctly. Roaster picks it up automatically, scores it, and adds it to the market in real time.
Tagging isn’t required for syncing, it’s simply to notify the brand and help build their mindshare on CT. We recommend blending the tag naturally into your roast, or adding it in the comments if it doesn’t fit the main tweet.
Roast well → your score goes upThe community hypes the moment → Heat risesHeat crosses the threshold → rewards unlock (A token launch, based on the market type)

Types of Roast Markets

There are two kinds of Roast Markets on Roaster, and each one works a little differently. Both follow the same roasting flow, but what happens after the Heat builds is what sets them apart.

1. Brand-Led Roast Markets

Brand-Led Markets are created by a partner or company. The brand sets the topic, provides the brief, and puts up a market reward pool, and roasters jump in to create memes, jokes, and narrative energy around that theme.
These markets are all about:
  • Driving awareness
  • Creating viral content
  • Building a brand moment
  • Rewarding the best roasters
In brand-led markets, Heat Bar shouldn’t really exist unless there’s something to unlock, like perks or even token. But since our devs still haven’t enabled conditional views (they told us it’s “not top priority”), the Heat bar shows up everywhere for now.
Once they stop being lazy, it’ll display properly. Until then, the intern writing this doc wanted to be transparent, please pretend you didn’t read this if you’re on the dev team.

2. Community-Led Roast Markets

Community-Led Markets are born from the internet itself. They launch when CT starts buzzing about a topic and then decided it deserves its own Roast Market.
These markets run on collective attention, no sponsor, no budget, just raw culture. Roasters build memes, energy, and hype together.
When a Community-Led Market hits its Heat Threshold, the culture is officially forged. That’s when the Culture Coin is created by the community, and roasters begin earning from trading fees. This is where memes evolve into markets, and the value created belongs to everyone who contributed.(For the breakdown of how trading fees are rewarded, refer to the Rewards section.)

What a Roast Market Contains?

1. Topic/Target (What You’re Roasting)

Every Roast Market starts with a clear topic. It’s the central idea the market is built around, a brand moment, a trending narrative, a product, a meme, or something the community wants to amplify. It keeps everyone roasting in the same direction so the market forms one loud, unified cultural wave.

2. The Brief (What the Goal is)

The brief tells you exactly how to roast the topic. It explains:
  • What angle or vibe is expected
  • What the brand/community wants highlighted
  • What’s allowed or not allowed
  • Instructions on roast directions
The brief is your roadmap, it ensures your roast is valid, on-topic, and eligible for scoring hence rewards.

3. Heat Score (How Hot the Market Is)

Heat Score measures the overall cultural energy inside the market. It increases when:
  • More unique roasters join in, the faster the market heats up, fresh voices push the Heat Threshold higher
  • Engagement rises organically
Heat Score is the market-level energy meter, it tracks how culturally hot a Roast Market is becoming.

4. Heat Threshold (The Unlock Condition)

Once the market crosses 100 threshold, something major happens:
  • Brand-Led Markets: Rewards may unlock, perks may drop, or even token might be launched.
  • Community-Led Markets: A Culture Coin is forged by the community and trading begins.
This prevents dead capital markets and ensures only topics that genuinely catch fire evolve to the next phase.

5. Leaderboard (Who’s Cooking the Hardest)

The leaderboard shows all participating roasters ranked by their individual roast's Roast Score. It updates dynamically as new roasts come in and performance of each roast changes.
Your position depends on:
  • How strong your roast is
  • How real your engagement is
  • How well you match the brief
The leaderboard is where the competitive spirit lives, friendly battles, bragging rights, and reward placement all flow from here.

6. Roast Score (Your Individual Performance)

Every roast you post is evaluated and assigned a Roast Score. This score reflects:
  • Quality of the roast
  • Organic engagement from trusted accounts
  • Relevance to the topic
  • Audience reaction
  • Contribution to the narrative
Roast Score is your personal “impact meter,” and it determines your share of rewards per roast.

7. Rewards or Token Outcome

What you earn depends on the market type:
Brand-Led Roast Market: You earn from the brand’s market reward pool. Rewards are distributed based on Roast Scores, quality, and sometimes brand-selected winners.
Community-Led Roast Market: If Heat Threshold is crossed, a Culture Coin launches.
Roasters then earn from:
  • Trading fees based on Market volume
  • Performance-based allocations
This creates ongoing value even after the market ends.

8. Countdown Timer

Every Roast Market runs on a timer. It tells you how long you have left to post roasts, climb the leaderboard, and help push the Heat higher.
When the timer hits zero:
  • New roasts stop counting
  • Scoring locks
  • Rewards are distributed for if Brand-led Roast Market or token is forged only if Heat Threshold is reached before deadline.
Culture moves quickly, so markets do too.

9. Market Feed (All Active Roasts)

This is the live feed of every valid roast submitted to the market. It lets you:
  • See what others are posting regarding a specific roast market
  • Understand the narrative direction
  • Spot trends or angles
  • Draw inspiration (not copy Eyes)
  • Watch the culture form in real time
